It amazes me how little hotels do for you when arriving back in Hong Kong from a trip away.
This madness of hotel quarantine is a debate in itself but I want to touch on a few more important things.
Staying in your hotel has only been a government choice, I would be happily at home with all the necessary things that I need from day to day.
My experience has been incredibly disheartening, the room was meant to have a double bed, instead I have 2 singles. The bed is super hard, the floor would be more comfortable. ||You cannot hang clothing or pack anything away as the room is tiny.
Wifi is woeful and really only works when standing at the door.
My room aircon is a disgrace, I asked reception if there is something I can do to not sweat through the night like being in a Sauna, to be told maybe push buttons !!! I know how to operate a aircon !!!
Plug points ….. I’m boiling my kettle on the BED !! Safe enough for you ??
Then my worst !!! The FOOD
You are a hotel, you should be able to cater for all cultures in this day and age. I’d rather you charge me less and I buy my own food then be charged for rubbish I cannot eat !!!! Why must people order in food everyday on top of paying for food in the hotel.
Lastly, you should be allowing guests to have plates, bowls etc. if they so wish . ||This cannot attitude I’ve experienced is nonsense…, you are a hotel and should be giving out basic needs to your guests .
||To complain Is easy, but this is my first terrible experience and Grand City Hotel has not for one minute been pleasant.

About 10sqm room with bolted windows so the fresh air doesn't contaminate me. The cultural program runs on 12 national channels. Internet speed is reminiscent of the beginnings of the Internet with 56k.... (if the WiFi ever works)||Quarantine food is perfect if you like the same sauce or dry rice for 14 days, so souvenirs are highly recommended! Vegans are starving here. How do you eat the food shown with a plastic spoon and plastic fork? Yes, with your fingers, no one can see... A cup or glass, metal cutlery would be an enrichment of comfort.||Likewise, an additional pair of towels, possibly also bed linen, would contribute to hygiene. I have never created so much plastic waste in my life.||Not everyone has a sink in the hallway, wallpaper from the 50s... just sporadically.||Surely there are worse places to stay. However, was a new experience in Hong Kong.||A plus for the doctors who toil in the corridors and test people.
